Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser when you visit a website. They help websites remember your preferences, analyze usage patterns, and track affiliate referrals.
2. Cookies We Use
Essential Cookies (Always Active)
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| armidillo_cookie_consent | Stores your cookie consent preference | Persistent (localStorage) |
Analytics Cookies (Requires Consent)
We use Google Analytics 4, which sets the following cookies if you click "Accept All":
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Distinguishes unique users (Google Analytics) | 2 years |
| _ga_XXXXXXXX | Maintains session state (Google Analytics 4) | 2 years |
Affiliate Tracking Cookies (Requires Consent)
When you click affiliate links to our partners (currently Aura via Impact Radius), those third-party services may set their own tracking cookies to attribute purchases:
| Partner | Purpose | Their Privacy Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Aura / Impact Radius | Tracks affiliate referrals and commission attribution | Aura Privacy Policy |
3. Your Cookie Choices
When you first visit our site, you will see a cookie banner with two options:
- Accept All: Enables all cookies, including Google Analytics and affiliate tracking
- Essential Only: Disables Google Analytics and blocks non-essential cookies. Note: clicking affiliate links will still take you to third-party sites that have their own cookie policies
4. How to Manage Cookies in Your Browser
You can also control cookies directly through your browser settings:
Note that disabling cookies may affect your experience on our site.
5. Google Analytics Opt-Out
To opt out of Google Analytics across all websites: Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
5b. Canadian Residents — PIPEDA & Quebec Law 25
Canada's PIPEDA requires meaningful consent for cookies used in commercial activity. Our cookie banner's "Essential Only" option lets you decline analytics and affiliate tracking cookies entirely, satisfying PIPEDA's consent requirements.
Quebec Residents — Explicit Opt-In Required
Quebec's Law 25 is the strictest cookie consent law in North America — equivalent to the EU's GDPR. It requires explicit opt-in consent before any tracking cookies are set. Our cookie banner is designed to satisfy this requirement:
- No analytics or affiliate tracking cookies are set until you click "Accept All"
- Clicking "Essential Only" blocks all non-essential cookies and disables Google Analytics
- The default state (before you click anything) is no tracking cookies — compliant with Law 25's opt-in requirement
If you believe our cookie practices do not comply with Quebec's Law 25, you may file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (CAI) at cai.gouv.qc.ca.
